REITs facilitate investments in commercial real estate on principles similar to mutual funds. Small investors are able to invest in large real estate projects through REITs. Property owned by REITs include shopping arcade, offices, apartments, hotels, and warehouses. REITs purchase, construct, manage, and rent out income-generating commercial spaces and then distribute their income to investors.
