Liquidity refers to the ease with which an asset can be converted into cash without any significant costs. Bank savings are highly liquid followed by FDs. Shares and mutual funds are also relatively liquid. Real estate is considered illiquid as finding a buyer can be difficult. Real estate also involves higher costs in form of commission, stamp duty, etc.
